Ultrasonic flowmeters of the passage time VorTek Instruments measure the time from the moment the signal is transmitted from the first sensor to its reception by the second sensor. Time measurements are carried out in both directions, upstream and against the flow. If there is no flow in the pipe, the time measurements will be the same in both directions. With the flow in the pipe, sound waves will move faster traveling with the flow, and slower moving against the flow. The fluid velocity is calculated from the difference in these two time measurements. Knowing the pipe area and speed, the meter can calculate the volumetric flow rate.

SonoPro ultrasonic flowmeters incorporate high-precision ultrasonic travel time measurement technology to ensure accurate and reliable flow measurement. The innovative design includes consistent precision transducers and signal processing circuits for accurate flow measurement of most liquids over a wide speed range.

SonoPro meters are available with overhead or plug-in sensors. Overhead flowmeters do not wear out, create zero pressure loss and do not require interruption of the process for their installation, since they are attached outside the pipe.

With the addition of external temperature inputs, SonoPro meters can provide reliable energy measurement (BTU).
