Turbine flowmeters VorTek Instruments measure the flow of liquid, gas and steam, determining the speed of rotation of the turbine rotor in the flow. The rotation speed of the turbine rotor is directly proportional to the velocity of the fluid flowing through the turbine. In Pro-T turbine flowmeters, the movement of the turbine blade is recorded magnetically, while each blade generates an impulse measured by an electric sensor. This local fluid velocity is used together with other parameters, such as pipe size and Reynolds number, to calculate the average fluid velocity in the pipe. Knowing the average fluid velocity and the pipe area, the volumetric flow rate is calculated.

With additional built-in temperature and pressure sensors, the Pro-T turbine flowmeters can provide adjusted mass flow. With the energy monitoring option, Pro-T meters can also provide reliable energy measurement (BTU) of water, thermal oil and steam.

Plug-in turbine flowmeters are a more economical option on large pipelines and can be installed in conditions of a complete technological process (hot tapping).
